Wallace’s Missionary Prayer Letter October 1, 2014 (Aug. – Sep. ’14)
Dear Pastors, Churches and Friends,
October 1, 2014 (Aug. – Sep. ‘14)
Greetings in Jesus’ Name! I reported a couple prayer letters ago about Ana, the lady who was a Jehovah Witness, that came to church and was saved. One week later she was baptized and her mom came and was saved, too. Since then she has invited her brothers & their families to church and several of them have been saved. I am reminded of what the apostle Paul said in Acts 16:31, “….Believe on the Lord Jesus Christ, and thou shalt be saved, and thy house.” Praise the Lord that not only are individuals getting saved in Mexico City, but over time, their families (“houses”) are too. Glory to God!
I recently started a new van route in the nearby mountains. It is about a 30 minute drive with winding narrow roads. A family was coming regularly from there. They had to take a couple different buses, then a minivan shuttle, then a taxi and it took about 2 hours to get to church. Along with that, it costs them about $30 round trip which is a huge sacrifice for these poor mexican families. They came on their own regularly for several Sundays. What a testimony of faithfulness. Praise the Lord! We are now bringing others from the same area with 36 people in a 15-person van. This area may be a future church plant. Amen!
Things are busy in church. Our Bible Institute started back this Fall. We also had a good VBS. The discipleship class for new believers just started. We attended a large evangelistic meeting here in Mexico City in August. The van that our youth were riding in, including our son Stephen, was in a wreck but thankfully no one was hurt though the vehicle was totalled. My wife and I attended a Jewish rally to make more contacts. Their purpose was to encourage the Mexican government to maintain good relationships with Israel. There were about 25 Jews downtown and we found ourselves surrounded by about 150 masked Palistinians shouting “assisinate them.” Thankfully we had about 100 riot police between us. A jewish lady that we made friends with came to church with us for the first time last month. This was a BIG step! We shared the gospel with her from the Old Testament scriptures. She didn’t get saved but she said she knows Jesus was a Jew and she is interested. She said she would like to attend again. Hallelujah! Her parents gave her the name Victoria (which means victory) after WWII when the U.S. won against the Nazis.
We are making plans for our furlough starting next summer. If you would like to have us visit your church but haven’t told me yet, please do so soon so we can develop our schedule. “Finally, brethren, pray for us, that the word of the Lord may have free course, and be glorified, even as it is with you.” (2 Thes. 3:1) We are “…your servants for Jesus’ sake.” (2 Cor. 4:5)
