Wallace’s Missionary Prayer Letter February 1, 2025 (Dec. ’24 & Jan ’25)

Posted on February 1st 2025

Dear Pastors, Friends and Family,

February 1, 2025 (Dec. ’24 – Jan. ’25)

Greetings in Jesus’ Name from Mexico City! We hope you all had a Merry Christmas. Thanks to those who sent cards and gave extra during this time. Happy (belated) New Year to you all. The Lord continues to do a great work here. We are excited about this year.

In December Mary made baked goods (i.e., cookies, caramel corn and muffins). We then wrote a nice letter including the gospel and enclosed Christmas gospel tracts, taking them to our doctors, neighbors, and other people we know. We even gave our Jewish friends and Jewish acquaintances Hanukkah tracts that explains that Jesus is the Messiah & Savior. We have verbally witnessed to all these people before, but we are praying that these “paper missionaries (e.g. tracts)” will continue to speak truth to these very nice, but lost people. There are so many Jews in our immediate area, now over 50,000. We see them everywhere and will focus more on our Jewish outreach this year. It is always a blessing to see people saved in church, but also while we are out knocking doors or in the open-air markets. Mexicans are generally shorter than Americans, but not long ago while out in the streets passing out tracts, a big Mexican came walking briskly directly at me. He stopped right in front of me then gave me a big hug. His name was Esteban. He then said, “A couple months ago I received a tract from your church. I read it and got saved. I now want to do what you are doing, telling others about Jesus.” What a blessing. I had the opportunity to witness to Brandon a few weeks ago. He had a humble street stand set up trying to sell tamales. I asked him, “How’s business?” He said, “Not too good.” He then said, “I am not too religious but with business being so slow, I asked God to send me some help.” Wow, what an opportunity. I said, “God Himself wants to help you, not just with your business, but more importantly, with your spiritual life.” I witnessed to him for a while, then Brandon said, “That is what I need. I want to be saved.” He then cried out to God for salvation and was born again. The Wednesday before Christmas, a lady named Nicole came to our church for the first time. We had witnessed to her before in the open-air markets. After hearing the gospel in church, she trusted Christ and was saved. We also met a young man that weekend in the open-air markets. His name is Jesus, and he heard about the real JESUS, Christ the Savior, and after hearing the gospel, he became born again. We had several people baptized both in December and in January. A young man named Abraham has been coming to church off and on for a while. Though he had heard the gospel many times, he had never got saved. I preached the gospel again as part of a sermon in the service and Abraham indicated he wanted to get saved. He then trusted Christ as his Savior then he, too, got baptized. While in the markets a couple weeks ago, Mary & I met 17-year-old Edwin working at an ice-cream shop. He was not busy when we walked in and asked could he help us. I told him “no” but asked if he would sit and talk with us. I then witnessed to him for a while, and I could tell that God’s Word was working. He then said he wanted to get saved, and he received Christ as his Savior. Since our last prayer letter, we have had a few men who were in the local drug & alcohol rehabilitation center, who after serving their time, we released and came to our church. Arnoldo, Paco and Alberto Paco were saved while in that rehab. center when we were there preaching the gospel. When they came to our church, as I do with all new Christians, I gave them all a Bible.

Next week we are hosting a Stewardship Conference in our church. We have a Mexican evangelist, and two Mexican pastors scheduled who are all conference speakers. We will be inviting other churches in Mexico to attend. The following week our Spring semester of our Bible Institute begins. At the end of this month, a supporting church will be flying Mary in to be one of the guest speakers at a Ladies’ Retreat in Amish Country in Ohio. Thanks for your prayers, support and for everything. We are “…your servants for Jesus’ sake.” 2 Corinthians 4:5.
