Wallace’s Missionary Prayer Letter April 1, 2026 (Feb. ’26 – Mar. ‘26)
Dear Pastors, Friends and Family,
April 1, 2026 (Feb. – Mar. ’26)
Greetings in Jesus’ Name & Happy Spring! We’ve continued traveling on furlough these last two months, visiting some churches and seeing family. All has gone well though we have experienced a few losses that we will explain below. Mary celebrated her birthday in February, and a church we were attending for their mission conference made her a cake. The last two months we have traveled for meetings in Colorado, Alabama, Mississippi, Ohio and West Virginia. For the churches we can’t visit that have expressed interest in us coming, we will be sure to put them at the top of the list for our next furlough. We have tried to spend time every month visiting family. Mary’s mom is stable but still bedridden on hospice. Mary’s oldest brother passed away a month ago. Praise the Lord that he made a profession of faith in Christ for salvation shortly before dying. We are excited to return to the mission field of Mexico City soon. We have had several churches and individuals who want to come to visit us there. We love having visitors, yet we are also praying for more (permanent) laborers in Mexico City as Jesus commanded us to pray in Matthew 9:38. The need is so great there. Of course, while on furlough, we are only sending out prayer letters every other month, but when we return to the field, we will also resume with our short weekly updates on Mondays. Apart from Mary’s brother, we have lost a couple members from our church in Mexico in the last couple months. One of them, Brother Valdemar, was a founding member of the church and deacon. He truly had a burden for souls and will be greatly missed. Though Mary & I were not able to return for the funeral, we were able to help his family some with expenses. In the attached sheet are several pictures of Valdemar. Though he was older, and it was a bit difficult for him to walk, he still went out a couple times a week with the church to share the gospel. He started limping a couple years ago with knee pain but stayed faithful as a soul winner, using a cane. Later, he hurt his back and needed crutches to get around, but stayed faithful sharing the gospel. In the last few months of his life, the pain was almost unbearable, but he said, “I must continue to share the gospel, so put me on a busy corner, close to a telephone pole that I can lean on when necessary, and I will continue to go with the church to witness.” What a testimony.
Our church in Mexico, Hope Baptist Church, continues to do well with my assistant Pastor, Brother Alvaro, preaching, teaching and running the church. Attendance has been good there, too. People are still getting saved in and out of church. There is a big family in our church who are indigenous Indians who come faithfully. The mother of that family, Senorina, has a medical problem and can’t attend personally but sends the children of her family weekly. They are very poor and have hardly any food, so Pastor Alvaro’s wife & daughters make them a small breakfast every Sunday. Apart from our church, things in Mexico City continue to be bit dangerous. We continue to receive alerts from the U.S. Embassy about violent protests against Americans there. International news announced that Nemesio Oseguera Cervantes, the head leader of the Jalisco New Generation Cartel (CJNG), known as known as “El Mencho” was killed in Mexico in February. His cartel also has strong influence in Mexico City so they have been flexing their power to try maintaining control from the other cartels. We remain in contact with the orphans in Mexico City a couple times a week, and there are some new orphans. By video, we are able to share the gospel some with them, but we are excited to get to see them all in person soon and trusting the Lord to become the personal Heavenly Father of the new ones by way of salvation, when we get to continue to witness to them in person. Please continue to pray for our church in Mexico City and for our remaining furlough & for us as we share the gospel as we travel. Thanks for your prayers, support and for everything. We are praying for you all, too. We are “…your servants for Jesus’ sake.” 2 Corinthians 4:5. Attached are some photos.
