Wallace’s Missionary Prayer Letter – April and May 2008

Romans 10:13-15 says, “For whosoever shall call upon the name of the Lord shall be saved. How then shall they call on him in whom they have not believed? and how shall they believe in him of whom they have not heard? and how shall they hear without a preacher? And how shall they preach, except they be sent? as it is written, How beautiful are the feet of them that preach the gospel of peace, and bring glad tidings of good things!” What a great promise that whoever calls upon Jesus for salvation can be saved. What a blessing that salvation is not by works nor conditional. In this passage, however, we see the process of the gospel being sent and received. Before a person can be saved, they have to call upon Jesus, but before they call, they have to believe in Him. Before a person can believe, they have to hear and before that, there has to be a faithful preacher (or soul-winner) to deliver the gospel. James 4:14 says, “Whereas ye know not what shall be on the morrow. For what is your life? It is even a vapour, that appeareth for a little time, and then vanisheth away” We often quote this verse when witnessing to people to convey to them the brevity of life as well as the urgency to get saved, and rightly so. But the same is true for us as Christians. Life is short and we only have A LITTLE TIME to reach people with the gospel before it is eternally too late. The gospel is good news but it is great news only if it reaches the lost soul in time before they die. Oh how now more than ever, we need to be about our “Father’s business” (Luke 2:49) getting the gospel out. “Is the seed yet in the barn?” Haggai 2:19
