Wallace’s Missionary Prayer Letter – August – September 2008

It has been sobering to see America’s economy plummet in the last couple of months and the dollar continuing to grow weaker around the world. On many occasions as I call pastors for meetings, I am told that things are just too tight. I know that is true and I fully understand. During these trying times, however, faith is so important. As I read about Elijah’s and the widow’s needs, I can see similar parallels. Times are tough for all. When Elijah asked the woman to help him, she by faith obeyed and God miraculously met both of their needs. As God’s people and churches trust Him and sacrifice for the gospel’s sake, somehow God continues to amazingly provide for needs. 1 Kings 17:13-16 says, “And Elijah said unto her, Fear not; go and do as thou hast said: but make me thereof a little cake first, and bring it unto me, and after make for thee and for thy son. For thus saith the LORD God of Israel, The barrel of meal shall not waste, neither shall the cruse of oil fail, until the day that the LORD sendeth rain upon the earth. And … Read More »
Wallace’s Missionary Prayer Letter – June – July 2008

Jesus said in Mark 1:38, “…Let us go into the next towns, that I may preach there also: for therefore came I forth.” We as Christians need to follow the Lord’s example in this passage and often go a little farther with the gospel, (even to the foreign field), because that’s why we’re here.
Hudson Taylor, Missionary to China once said, “It will not do to say that you have no special call to go … with these facts before you and with the command of the Lord Jesus to go and preach the gospel to every creature, you need rather to ascertain whether you have a special call to stay at home.” Another missionary, Ion Keith-Falconer, made a similar statement when he said, “While vast continents are shrouded in darkness… the burden of proof lies upon you to show that the circumstances in which God has placed you were meant by God to keep you out of the foreign mission field.” Not every Christian is called to go as far as these men, but maybe we could cover our town and then, “go into the next towns.” … Read More »
