Wallace’s Missionary Prayer Letter – August – September 2009
Dear Pastors, Church Families, Friends and Family:
1 Samuel 17:29 says, “…is there not a cause?” It is so important that we love others, and we care enough to get the gospel to them. Someone once said, “The opposite of love is not hate, it’s indifference.” God help us to never be indifferent.
Please keep our youngest son in prayer. As I was finishing preaching a couple months ago, Stephen started experiencing shock-like symptoms. I later found out he was temporarily blinded, in pain, and his lips were white. He became weak, but he didn’t want to disrupt the invitation. While this was happening, a teenage girl trusted Christ as her Savior (Glory to God!). We had a doctor check him for stroke, heart problems, etc.; but he had no answers. Stephen had another episode of this a week later in a service, and we had prayed that God would show us the problem. We realized it may be hypoglycemia-like problems (i.e., low blood sugar) because of him sometimes not eating on Sunday mornings. He is fine when he eats.

As with Joseph in Genesis 50:20, God wants to use us “…to save much people alive.” Amen! Jesus said in John 9:5 “As long as I am in the world, I am the light of the world.” Now that Christ has ascended to Heaven, He says to us, “Ye are the light of the world…” (Matt. 5:17).
There is eternal unrest for those in hell because of not trusting in Jesus. We have a great, important, and urgent responsibility to get the gospel out. Hudson Taylor said, “Would that God would make hell so real to us that we cannot rest.”
We are always so thankful when a church takes us on for support. We had six just take us on in June. Praise the Lord! We had a special blessing recently when the church youth group of Pleasant Grove Baptist Church in Dillwyn, Virginia, chose to support us. The touching story behind this was that we were chosen in memory of 10-year-old Jacob Edwards that died last year of leukemia. As a member of that church’s youth … Read More »
