Wallace’s Missionary Prayer Letter June 1, 2025 (Apr. ’25 & May. ’25)
Dear Pastors, Friends and Family,
June 1, 2025 (Apr. – May ’25)
Greetings in Jesus’ Name from Mexico City! We trust all is well there. We are fine and busy getting the “good news” out here. We continue to have first-time visitors almost every week and often have people saved during church services. But we also spend a lot of time, four days a week as a church, witnessing door-to-door and in the open-air markets. This gives us lots of opportunities with the gospel. We met a lady from Germany now living in Mexico almost two months ago named Joce. She believed in a sort of new age spirituality, but Mary witnessed to her for a very long time. She didn’t get saved, but you could tell the Holy Spirit and God’s Word was working in her heart. She gave Mary a big hug and got Mary’s phone number, saying she would be in touch sometime. Younger people here are usually open to the gospel but these last couple of months we have also seen some older people saved. Two of them were 79-year-old Acensio and 82-year-old Eugenio. I had the opportunity several weeks ago to witness to 23-year-old Miguel. As we talked, he asked me to sit down beside him so he could better read the verses in the Bible. Then hearing the gospel, he trusted Christ as Savior. I also witnessed recently to Carlos, and I asked him if he were to die, was he sure he would go to heaven. He said, “That’s a good question. I almost died two weeks ago. I was shot two times and was in the hospital.” He then showed me his gunshot wounds, one below the knee and the other below the elbow. As I continued, after hearing the gospel, Carlos trusted Christ as Savior, then gave me a hug. He was very happy. A few weeks ago, I met 19-year-old Luis working in a sidewalk popsicle stand, and we talked a little while. Then I witnessed to him, and after hearing the gospel, he trusted Christ as Savior. He was so happy and thanked me a few times. He then said, “I really appreciate you helping me. Let me give you a few popsicles for free.” I told him no, but he insisted. He said, “I am really grateful for what you shared with me. Please take at least one popsicle” so I did. While out witnessing a couple of weeks ago I met 18-year-old Mateo. We talked a little, and he told me he saw me passing out tracts on the way down the sidewalk. He then asked me what the tract was about. What an easy opportunity to begin to witness. After hearing the gospel, Mateo received Christ as his Savior. A couple weeks, with Bible open as always, Mary witnessed to a lady our age named Paula. After hearing the gospel, Paula trusted Christ as Savior. She was so happy, she hugged Mary twice. She works every day of the week, she said she’d try to come visit our church.
We just had our Bible Institute graduation with several students receiving advanced degrees. In closing, I have a few specific prayer requests. Many of you may know of them already. First, pray for us as we have one month before we leave for furlough. Along with regular church & ministry things, we have a lot of other things to do in this brief time, including packing up to move out of our apartment. Second, please also pray for Mary’s mom (Marie) and her brother (Jimmy). They both have been fine up until about two months ago. Jimmy took care of Marie, but things changed just recently. Marie became bedridden with much pain. At the same time Jimmy became ill and found out he has 4th-stage cancer spread all through his body. Furlough has come at a good time to be able to help family, but we also plan to travel to visit our children and some churches. Lastly, a few weeks ago we had a serious issue with our mechanic arrested while driving our van to work on it; our van was impounded and the police indicated that I might be guilty of a felony. Since then, there have been attempts to extort us, and we have received threats. Things have calmed down a bit but are not back to normal. This is one of the reasons that we always ask for prayer for our health and safety. Thanks for your prayers, support, help and encouragement. We are “…your servants for Jesus’ sake.” 2 Corinthians 4:5.
