Wallace’s Missionary Prayer Letter December 1, 2024 (Oct. & Nov. ’24)
Dear friends, family, and pastors,
December 1, 2024 (Oct. & Nov. ’24)
Greetings in Jesus’ Name from Mexico City! We had a good & busy last two months with many first-time visitors, people saved, baptisms, and regular church activities. The rainy season here went much longer than normal this year, but it is over now. Though the rain has stopped, God continues to shower down blessing here. Thanks for your prayers and support. We made a quick trip in October to a supporting church in Ohio where Mary spoke at a ladies’ conference one Saturday, and I preached the following Sunday in the church. One day here while we were out witnessing in the open-air markets, Mary couldn’t go with me as she had to stay home to practice her chalk-art in preparation for the conference. She wanted to go witnessing but prayed that God would give her an opportunity anyway. God answered her prayer as two exterminators arrived at our property to empty rat traps of dead rats and add more poison bait. Their names are Alfredo and Luis. They asked Mary what she was doing, and she was so ready to tell them. She witnessed to them, sharing the gospel and they both got saved. It really pays to pray, then witness. These two came looking for the results of death (dead rats) and found eternal life in Jesus Christ. Mary is scheduled to speak at a ladies’ conference in Ohio again in February. A man named Marcos called me recently and said he received our tract. He then came to church and brought his family. I preached the gospel and afterward he and his wife, Miriam, got saved. Since then, their son, Marcos Jr. also got saved. They now faithfully attend our church. They invited us to dinner to meet their family. I trust in time many in the family will get saved. We had our annual missions conference recently with Mexican missionaries to Africa and Venezuela. We hope to take on more missionaries soon. A lady named Maricela came to church recently. She admitted she was heavily involved in worshipping Santa Muerte, but praise God the gospel is more powerful. I preached the gospel as part of my sermon, and she indicated afterwards she wanted to be saved, then trusted Christ as Savior. Afterwards, I presented her with a Bible, which is my custom for everyone who receives Christ at church. Speaking of Santa Muerte, Mexico recently celebrated Halloween tied with the Day(s) of the Dead. It is a very dark week, spiritual speaking, but as a church we got the gospel out, preaching the light – Christ’s salvation. One such case is that of 19-year-old Alexis, where I gave him a gospel tract in the open-air markets. When I returned, passing back by him, he was just finishing reading the tract. He told me, “I read this tract completely and am in agreement, and I am interested in what this says at the end about being saved. I want to be saved.” So, I witnessed to him a bit and I could tell he was sincere. He then prayed and was born again. A lady named Elisa was passing through our area on her motorcycle one Wednesday night and though not a Christian, she said she felt the need to go to church. She found our church by using Google Maps. Anyway, I preached the gospel and Elisa indicated she wanted to get saved, and she trusted Christ as Savior. A pastor friend of ours named Joe and his family visited us here for a mission trip last month. We did a lot of ministry with them while here and did a little sightseeing for historical, educational & cultural purposes, including seeing the pyramids & the downtown plaza area. Pastor Joe and I went to the men’s drug & alcohol rehab. center one Thursday, and it was full. There were probably about 100 young men there. They locked them in with us, and we both gave our salvation testimony. I then preached the gospel and at least eight men raised their hands indicating the wanted to get saved. Afterwards, I saw a couple of them with tears in their eyes. The gospel still has saving power!
I hope you veterans had a good Veteran’s Day last month, and trust all of you had a Happy Thanksgiving. It is hard to believe that Christmas is just a few weeks away, and then, if the Lord tarries His return, we will have a new year in just about a month. We are excited to begin our furlough starting the second half of next year. The orphan ministry is going well, both with the girls and boys, but it seems we are barely scratching the as they say there is over 1 million orphans here in Mexico City. We have to make a quick trip to the border next week on Monday, December 9th to pick up Bibles, tracts, Christmas Joy Gift Bags, etc., and return on Friday the 13th. It is a long trip, and it can be dangerous. Please pray that we have no problems and that our van runs well. Upon our return, we plan to go to the dumps where many orphans live and are forced to scavenge to survive. We plan to take them some food & clothing, then preach the gospel to them. Please pray about that for us. Thanks for everything. We are “…your servants for Jesus’ sake.” 2 Corinthians 4:5.
