Wallace’s Missionary Prayer Letter December 1, 2015 (Oct. – Nov. ’15)
Dear Pastors, Friends & Family,
December 1, 2015 (Oct. – Nov. ’15)
Greetings in Jesus’ Name! It is hard to believe this year is almost over. Time truly does seem to go by fast. Thanks to those who support us and pray for us. I know God blesses such generousity and sacrifce. We trust you all had a Happy Thanksgiving. Though many things are not right in the U.S. & the world today, God has been so good to us and is worthy of our gratefulness. Though we should be rejoicing daily all year long, it is a blessing to have a holiday like Thanksgiving specifically for this purpose. Amen! By the way, Mexico has no such holiday. We hope you all will have a Merry Christmas in celebrating our Savior’s birth.
We are happy to announce that we are grandparents. Our daughter Hannah and her husband Mark had their first child – Jenna Grace Martinez the October 9th – 8 pounds & 20 inches. All went well for our daughter & our grandaughter. Glory to God!
I had mentioned in the last prayer letter that we got rid of all of our furniture, appliances, etc., when we came out of Mexico so we will have to replace them when we get back down there next year. I don’t worry much about our needs as God is always faithful to supply them. It was a miracle how He provided for our needs when we arrived here in the U.S. for our furlough. We arrived in Ohio, which is where our home base is, and we found a very small apartment but we had no furniture nor applainces. A pastor in Ohio who doesn’t even support us called and asked if we could use some things. He said his grandparents both passed away recently and they had a complete house of furniture. The pastor’s family didn’t want to bother selling the things so he offered them to us to use for free. Hallelujah! Oh what a great promise is Matthew 6:33, “But seek ye first the kingdom of God, and his righteousness; and all these things shall be added unto you.”
In the last two months we’ve been in Colorado, Ohio, Michigan, Indiana, Pennsylvania & New York. We are enjoying furlough but miss Mexico. As we travel, we’ve witnessed to hispanics in laundromats, Mexican restaurants, fast-food restaurants, grocery stores, department stores, etc. Along with reporting to supporting churches and visiting a few new churches, we have been in youth rallies, missions conferences, nursing homes, Christian schools, as well as the usual door-knocking, etc. It is a blessing in and out of church to see some people saved and a few surrender to the ministry & missions. Praise the Lord!
Our son Stephen is a high school senior this year and is part of a Christian school. He is also working for the church. He will be going to Bible college next year where our other son Joseph is at West Coast Bible College in Lancaster, California.
Next year at Christmas we are planning to use the Christmas Joy Gift Bags (formerly shoeboxes) as an evangelistic outreach and blessing to the children & families in Mexico City. Brother Paul Deem of Direct Line Ministries in Coolville, Ohio heads up this program and has agreed to help us. If you are interested, I will be in touch with you later next summer with details. Please pray for us as we travel on furlough. Please pray also for all the things necessary next year for our church-plant, etc., to begin to come together. We are excited that near the end of next year we will officially have our Mexican residency.
“Finally, brethren, pray for us, that the word of the Lord may have free course, and be glorified, even as it is with you.” (2 Thes. 3:1) We are “…your servants for Jesus’ sake.” (2 Cor. 4:5)
