Wallace’s Missionary Prayer Letter February 1, 2024 (Dec. ‘23. – Jan. ‘24)
Dear Pastors, Friends and Family,
February 1, 2024 (Dec. ‘23. – Jan. ‘24)
Greetings in Jesus’ Name from Mexico City! This year is off to a good start with people being saved, baptized and discipled. Before I go any further, I want to thank you all for your prayers, support and encouragement last year. Thanks also to those who gave extra to us for Christmas. I had a real bad sinus infection for 2 months at the end of last year due to the pollution and had five appointments with my Jewish doctor. The appointments opened doors to witness and talk about all that is going on in Israel. We’ve added another day of the week going out witnessing as a church this year. It is not the theme of our church this year, but I believe we need to do MORE in 2024. We made a quick trip to Texas in December to see our doctors and pick up Bibles, tracts, donated clothes (from two supporting churches) and Christmas Joy Gift Bags (from Directline Ministries). We were able to give the clothes to our church family, orphans and some visitors. We also had a big gospel outreach one Saturday last month giving out the gift bags and many children & adults got saved. The following day, Sunday, we had over 40 first-time visitors and some of them got saved. On another Sunday a young man named Eduardo came and said he wanted to start the New Year off right, so he came to church. He also received a new life in Christ that day as he was born again, then baptized. A lady named Maria Elena received our gospel tract the next week, read it and got saved. She then used the address on the tract to bring her husband, Fernando, to church and he got saved, too. A lady named Monica came to our church at the invitaiton of one of our church members and got saved, now wants to be baptized. Many Venezuelans visit our church while passing through to the US, but we had a family from Columbia visit recently. Rosa Maria got saved and said she would visit our church, and she did, bringing her brother, Daniel, and he got saved. I then gave them Bibles as I do for new believers. Daniel told me, “We fled our country looking for freedom, and I got more freedom than I expected today – spiritual freedom.” A man named Jesus came to church several weeks ago and got saved. His wife got saved the following week and they have been faithful to church since. He for sure is a changed man. He told me he has lived with Guadalupe for years and they have a teen boy & a younger girl. But he told me about a week ago, “Pastor, we want to do right. Will you marry us?” I told him yes, and we are planning a wedding in two weeks. Our Bible Institute ended last semester in December and started anew two weeks ago, and he & his wife joined as students. He told me, “Pastor, I am so glad to be saved. There are a lot of lost loved ones waiting outside the local hospital for sick loved ones admitted inside. Can we go witness to them?” Of course I said yes, so it looks like we might have a new hospital visitation ministry as Jesus wants to go there regularly. He plans to take them sandwiches, too, as he told me “They need the spiritual bread of life first, then we can give them something physical to eat.” Jesus asked could he go to the drug & alcohol rehabilitation center last week and share his testimony, to which I agreed. But he is on fire, and he actually began to preach. He enjoyed it, really getting into it, and did a good job.
I have an update on our son, Joseph, and his neck pain. Going to the ER two weeks ago helped him get a referral to a neurosurgeon, who had a cancelation a couple days later and Joseph was able to be seen quickly by him. The doctor said the area of Joseph’s neck surgery looked OK. Some of the bones are starting to deteriorate & splinter so he will need surgery again down the road, but the doctor said it wasn’t an immediate need. Please keep praying for our health & safety. We had a strong earthquake in December, a 5.8 on the Richter scale. We were in our apartment and things were really swaying & shaking. Thank God our faith is built on the Rock, Jesus Christ. Please note that our mailing address for letter mail has changed. Along with packages, all mail for us should be sent in our name to 550 S. Val Verde Road, Donna, Texas 78537. We will no longer be receiving mail via P.O. Box 908 there. I also wanted to mention the need of getting some custom-printed John & Romans (about 1 pallet) from a church in Colorado, to the address in Donna, TX. If you happen to know of someone traveling through the Denver area to the southeast Texas border between now and the early May, please let me know. There is also a pallet of John & Romans at a church in Orlando, Florida for us that I would like. Or let me know if you know of another way I might could easily get these. In closing, please know we are praying for you all, too. Thanks for everything. We are “…your servants for Jesus’ sake.” 2 Corinthians 4:5
