Wallace’s Missionary Prayer Letter April – May 2011 (June 20, 2011)
Dear Pastors, Churches and Friends,
Greetings in Jesus’ Name! Well, we (the church) are still here. Of course the rapture didn’t come on May 21st at 6:00pm as predicted by Harold Camping. Though we are living in the last days (2 Tim. 3:1; Heb. 1:2; 2 Pet. 3:3), the Bible is clear that no man can know the day or hour of the Lord’s return (Matt 24:36). Anyone who proclaims otherwise is a false prophet (Deut. 18:22), but I do still believe the Lord’s return is imminent. Three times in the last chapter of the Bible, Jesus said of Himself that He is coming quickly (verses 7, 12, and 20). So, why didn’t He come, and why hasn’t He come yet? Jesus came at first to this earth when it was fully time as told in Galatians 4:4, “But when the fulness of the time was come, God sent forth his Son, …” I believe He is coming soon, but His tarrying is evidence that there are still some that need to be saved for His house to be full as He said in Luke 14:23, “And the lord said unto the servant, Go out into the highways and hedges, and compel them to come in, that my house may be filled.” He also said that the church house should be called a house of prayer (Matt. 21:13); His children should be praying for more laborers to reach the harvest (Matt. 9:38).
Mexico City is a big city with a huge need and I am glad we are called there. Laborers, resources, power, and prayer are great needs for this city. Only Tokyo Japan has more people. I recently heard from two good independent Baptist missionaries that they have left Mexico City to come back to the United States to stay. They are fine men, and I believe the Lord will continue to use them. However, what a gap is left in them leaving? More need to go and fill this area of Mexico City (Ezekiel 22:30). Mexico City, with over 34 millions souls, grows by 1,000 per day and desperately needs the gospel as well as more laborers. Amen!
Our family’s time is fully come now; our deputation is all but ended. We have a few more meetings, and we have been accepted into language school where we will be working with a Spanish church. Nearly having all of our support, we will leave by July 20th. Glory to God! Our goal, however, is less than what missions boards require of their missionaries to Mexico City. We are hoping and praying that a few churches, where we have already presented our ministry, will consider taking us on for support. We have had a couple churches advance some in our monthly support to help with the upcoming move. Praise the Lord! Please pray about funds needed soon for this transition (i.e. language school – $3,113; moving cost $2,722, etc.). Finally, along these lines, pray for stability as the dollar has been slowly falling in value recently against the Mexican Peso.
Since out last prayer letter, we have seen souls saved in and out of church as well as one called to missions. Hallelujah! We’ve felt the resistance, however, in the battle, but through God, we anticipate more fruit as we move on.
I must close; so bye for now. “Finally, brethren, pray for us, that the world of the Lord may have free course, and be glorified, even as it is with you.” 2 Thessalonians 3:1. We pray for you, too. We are your servants for Jesus’ sake (2 Cor. 4:5).
