Wallace’s Missionary Prayer Letter – March 2009

Posted on March 18th 2009

Pastors, Church Families, Friends & Family:

Jesus said in Mark 16:15, “…Go ye into all the world, and preach the gospel to every creature.” Now that Spring is here, we are in many church mission conferences, and verses on the Great Commission are being heard as churches refocus on God will for souls and the world. William Carey once said, “To know the will of God, we need an open Bible and an open map.” Our family desires to reach the end of our map trail to Mexico City. However, we thank the Lord that he continues to use us as we travel to see souls saved and meet other Christians soldiers of the Son.

The Lord never fails to show Himself faithful in so many ways to our family, and safety is just one the ways. Amen! This is and will be an important area for us. According to the Central Intelligence Agency, Mexico City is one of the most dangerous cities in the world. The border towns of Mexico receive publicity for gangs, violence, drugs, etc. Though seldom reported in the U.S. new media, Mexico City has much of the same activity. Mexico City is also one of the kidnapping capitals of the world.

Recently, our youngest son, after playing outside, came running inside trying to say “I can’t breath.” His face was red, but as we were able to calm him down, his condition improved. A few days later he was playing basketball, and he experienced the same problem. A doctor recommended an exercise breathing test. When Stephen took the test, his breathing became laborious and his oxygen level dropped significantly after just a few minutes. The doctor then recommended X-Rays and a CAT scan which revealed a 3″ solid mass in his lung near his heart. The doctor requested one last scan, and we began to pray for God’s intervention for little Stephen. We then went to see the doctor for the results. Though he tried hard to be professional and knowledgeable, he was embarrassed that he couldn’t explain the phenomenon. He could only say that the mass “miraculously disappeared.” Praise the Lord!

We also saw God spare our family’s life recently. With much traveling, unbeknownst to us, our van’s brake caliper developed a defect. The Lord saw fit for this not to malfunction while actually traveling on the road (which could have been dangerous). However, where the problem did arise was equally scary. After pulling up to a gas station pump, we became aware of a burning smell, and upon exiting the van, we realized that the front end was on fire. Mary quickly drove the van away from the gas pump before an explosion could occur. The brakes were very hot and something flammable leaked and caught fire. To make a long story short, we were able to witness to people there about the danger of hell’s fire and we were able to get our van repaired quickly. The following day, we were back on the road for meetings. Alleluia!

God continues to provide us churches burdened for souls. Glory to God! Recently, we began receiving calls for a different type of meeting. As the Lord saw fit to deliver my wife of cancer, many churches have invited her to speak at Women’s Meetings. This is a blessing, because it is the desire of our family to work together to get the gospel to the souls in Mexico City. Along the way to our field, we want to do all we can to be a blessing to others. We have had other requests to do puppets as well as other types of ministry outreaches and we gladly accept these opportunities.

Well, I must close. Please pray for us as we pray for you. Bye for now.
