The Wallace Family - Independent Baptist Missionaries to Mexico City

Wallace's Missionary Prayer Letter

February and March 2010

Dear Pastors, Church Families, Friends and Family:

Malachi 3:6 says, "For I am the Lord, I change not …" When we started deputation, the economy and raising support wasn't too bad.  Since that time, the economy has struggled.  But despite that, God continues having churches take us on for support.  When we started deputation, the conditions in Mexico were less than desirable.  Since then, there is much more violence, corruption, and general unrest, yet God is still saving souls and taking care of his servants who labor in those harvest fields.  Hebrews 13:8 says, "Jesus Christ the same yesterday, and to day, and for ever."   It's a blessing that though times and things change, the Lord does not (and we should not).  Hallelujah!

A mission director once commented, "If we in the West insist on keeping our blessing instead of sharing it, then we will, like other nations before us, have to lose our blessing for the nations to receive it".  I've heard it said that God is a missionary God; the Bible is a missionary book; the Gospel is a missionary message, and the church is a missionary institution.  When the church ceases to be missionary minded, it has denied its faith and betrayed its trust.  Amen!  I am afraid that some of the difficulties that our country and churches are facing is due to losing sight of God's Mission - our Great Co-mission which is world-wide missions.  We understand the urgency to get the gospel out (Haggai 2:19), yet we can still lack faith at times to trust God by being concerned for our personal needs.  Missionary Jim Elliot said, "He is no fool who gives what he cannot keep to gain what he cannot lose".  Truly the cross bears those who bear the cross.  Praise the Lord!

As we anticipate reaching the mission field, God is already at work here and there.  It was a blessing several weeks ago that, while preaching, God called two in one church to service in full-time missions.  We have continued to see souls saved while preaching in church (and witnessing outside of church).  Glory to God!  I recently received another email from a person in Mexico City who viewed our website and wanted to visit our church there.  Sadly, I had to inform them that we were not there yet and referred them to another missionary church about hour away.

On a personal note …with our daughter Hannah being a senior this year and still being in the United States, we have visited several Baptist Bible colleges recently.  We must determine if God would have her go to the field with us for a year before going to school and to where God would have her go.  We know He will make this clear.

I must close; so bye for now.  "Finally, brethren, pray for us, that the world of the Lord may have free course, and be glorified, even as it is with you."  2 Thessalonians 3:1.  We pray for you, too.  We are your servants for Jesus' sake (2 Cor. 4:5).
